all my Job search results are NOT Relevant to me anymore!!simplyhired is not cool anymore :(
THE NEW SPONSORED RESULTS ON THE FIRST PAGE OF SEARCH RESULTS S U C K S !! ME AND MY CLASSMATES ARE SEARCHING FOR ''MEDICAL CODER' IN NEW YORK AND THE TOP RESULTS HAVE NOTHINGGGG TO DO WITH MEDICAL CODER--- ONLY WHEN YOU GET TO THE SECOND AND SOMETIMES THIRD PAGE DO RELATIVE RESULTS SHOW UP. ITS A PAIN TO USE THE ADVANCE SEARCH EVERYTIME! AND EVEN THEN I AM MISSING OUT ON RELATIVE JOBS. DO YOU YOU PLAN ON GOING BACK TO THE OLD WAY?? I THINK IT IS RATHER SELFISH THAT THE TOP RESULTS SHOWING UP WHEN I SEARCH FOR A JOB ARE COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO MY SEARCH. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

What happend after 30 Jan 2011 to remove the simplyHired Relevance or Date search choice
on 1 Feb 2011 I can not longer search via DATE
SO I AM will be use Indeed as my primary job search engine until you return the Relevance or Date search choice.
PS I will also be posting this POOR decsion on Indeed, DICE and other job searching sites
Arnold, We are testing out new designs to clean up our search results pages. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve the search results page.
To see the most recent jobs, you can still use the "Date Posted" filter to the left of the results, and set it to the past 24 hours.
Thank you for your feedback.

Chris—me and all my friends will be leaving simplyhired as well.

I would also like to comment that the sort by date/relevance feature is absolutely essential. When searching for a job you want to be able to see jobs as soon as they are posted and be able to apply to them as quickly as possible. Most people in a long job search are checking simplyhired at least once a day if not more. However, I will no longer be using SimplyHired without a sort by date/relevance feature as it makes the site completely useless and cumbersome to use. There are better options out there where you can actually see what is posted up to minute. I hope that Simplyhired returns the feature as soon as possible, otherwise I think they will see a large decline in use.

Ditto. I always check new listings with an "overlap" back to the last time I visited, which may be 18 hours ago, 36 hours ago or (on a Monday) two or three days. I can only do this if the results are IN DATE/TIME ORDER, NEWEST TO OLDEST.
I check 12 national and local job sites each weekday, and yours is the ONLY one that does not have this simplest of features. It was a very poor and short-sighted decision to remove it.

Hi all,
Thank you all for your feedback. We see that the ability to sort job listings by date is an integral part of your job search experience.
Your voices have been heard. We will be adding the Date Sort functionality back to the search results page in the very near future.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused in the process.

Glad to hear it because I search daily and don't want to waste my time looking at jobs I already reviewed. Hope it comes back soon. Also, it's probably a good idea to do a survey with your existing users when you are thinking about changing a major functionality. Or, at least figure out how your users are working with the site.

Bonnie - as quickly as possible please. It's rather unfathomable that a job site wouldn't know that sort by date is THE most important function after search. It's just been painful to use since the option was removed. Adding it back soonest would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lan,
The Date sort has been added to the page with the same functionality as it had before. Like I mentioned, the date sort does not take relevancy into account, so the jobs listed have the words "medical" and "assistant" somewhere in the job description. You will see better results by entering "medical assistant" (with quotation marks) for jobs with the exact phrase.
Please let me know if I can be of any assistance setting up a more optimal search for jobs that interest you.

Just for my clarification, Bonnie. When a search is done: in addition to what the search returns, if their are relevant Sponsored jobs that also meet the search criteria they are shown. Or is it: in addition to what the search returns, if there are jobs that are deemed relevant based on what we have entered previously, then these are also shown in the box at the beginning of the search results. Is one of these correct?

Thanks you Bonnie and the Simply Hired staff for listening to the users and putting the date sort functionality back in. The title of today's blog is:
Can you give me more information about your search, or send me a link to it? Also, was this sorted by date or relevancy?
Without seeing the search, I would assume the irrelevant jobs contain your search terms in the job listing. For example, the Certified Nurse Assistant job may mention it is based on a medical facility or comes with medical insurance, which is why is is appearing in your search results. However, if you are sorting by date, the Certified Nurse Assistant job was more recently posted than the any Medical Assistant jobs.

All I am doing is what most job seekers want to do.
Search for job title, by location------simply.
I entered "Medical Assistant" in "Denver, CO" and the top 5-7 results are Completely Irrelevant.

Those jobs are appearing because the words "medical" and "assistant" in the job listing. The first job listing - Certified Nurse Assistant - is at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center, and was posted about an hour ago, which is why it is appearing at the top of your date-sorted search results. There were no changes to the way searches were run on SimplyHired.com between the time the Date sort was removed and added.
However, there are ways to optimize your search terms to see better results. Since you are looking for jobs with the title "Medical Assistant" you can enter "title:" followed by the job title. It will only search the title field of job listings. This would be a better search for you to use in your job search: http://www.simplyhired.com/a/jobs/list/q-title%3A%28Medical+Assista...

Your search is returning results with either the words "medical" or "assistant" anywhere in the job listing--the title, company name, or job summary. However, because you're looking for jobs with the title "Medical Assistant", you will receive better results by putting the title in quotation marks, or entering the following in the Keyword field: title:"medical assistant". This will search our database for only jobs with with those keywords in the job title.
Hundereds or thousands of people search for Medical Assistant jobs, why should they have to use Quotes or special filters when they Did not use to?
