With the Auto Qualify and Auto Reject options, you can select Screener Questions to prescreen applicants.
The Screener Questions list on the left side of the page lists the standard Auto Qualify options. You can also add your own custom questions, and reject applicants automatically based on their responses to your custom questions. You can use these custom screener questions to broadly assess the applicants for your job postings.
To set up Auto Qualify options (including Auto Reject)
On the Jobs page, find the job posting you want to edit and select Edit, then select Edit for the Auto Qualify section.
At the left, from the list of default screener questions, turn on any questions you want to use. Also specify if answers from applicants are required in order for them to submit their application.
At the right, you can add one or more custom questions.
Custom questions can be used to Auto Reject applicants.
Custom questions must not be discriminatory or illegal, personally invasive, or otherwise violate the Terms of Service.
Select Add Question.
Type the question in the text box.
Select Required or Optional for the question.
Select the answer type. If you want to use this question for Auto Reject, the answer type must be either Dropdown or Checkbox.
Single line text – The applicant will be prompted with a single-line text box to answer the question. There’s nothing else you need to do now.
Paragraph text – The applicant will be prompted with a multi-line text box to answer the question. There’s nothing else you need to do now.
Dropdown – The applicant will be prompted with a drop-down list to select from to answer the question. In the Possible answers text box, enter the first possible answer, select Add answer, add the second answer, and repeat as needed. To re-order items, drag them by the dots to their left.
Number – The applicant will be prompted with a text box that expects a numeric response. There’s nothing else you need to do now.
Checkbox – The applicant will be prompted with a set of check boxes to select from to answer the question. In the Possible answers text box, enter the first possible answer, select Add answer, add the second answer, and as needed. To re-order items, drag them by the dots to their left.
To specify the Disqualifying Answer for dropdown or checkbox answer types, select the flag at the far right of an answer field (the flag turns red when selected). If Auto Reject is configured and if this answer is selected by an applicant while applying for the job posting, the applicant will be automatically rejected.
NOTE: You can have more than one Disqualifying Answer for a question.
Select Add Question to add the question.
Repeat steps a—f as needed to add more questions.
If configuring Auto Reject options, select Set Up Auto Reject.
NOTE: Automatically rejected applicants will be set to the Not Interested status and a Rejected email notification will be sent. You will not be able to reveal contact information for these applicants.
Review the list of Disqualify question(s) to ensure that your custom questions are set with Disqualifying Answers as desired.
Select Yes to enable Auto Reject based on the questions and answers. Also select an email template for the automatic rejection email that is sent to rejected applicants.
Select Preview to open a panel that shows how the screener questions will be presented to applicants. To close the panel, select x in the upper-right corner.
When ready, select Continue. See Select a workflow for a job posting.
